The Possibilities of Potential

The Possibilities of Potential

When my dear friend Cynthia tragically lost her niece a few years ago, she was inconsolable. As I did my best to comfort her, I remember even now, a phrase that she kept repeating from the depths of her grief. She said “It is not just the pain of losing her, but also that we will never get to see all that she could have become.” Her niece Candy has gone from this life, and with her went her potential. Her ability to grow and become all that she could have been.

It was a terribly sad time for all involved but there was nothing more anyone could do to change that situation. It is however very different for those of us who are still here. We still have the opportunity to become all that we can be and the persons that we dream of becoming. While we still have the breath of life, we can choose to explore the possibilities that our potential implies.
Every innovative invention, each successful business, every great book ever written, each enlightened philosophy ever shared, came from someone just like you and me. The ever increasing advancements in technology, in science, in medicine and in almost every field that we could imagine were born out of the fulfillment of someone’s potential. But my friend, and this is a huge “BUT”, it did not just happen.
Greatness, success, and the fulfillment of possibilities do not just happen. To reach our potential, we must grow. And to grow, we must be very deliberate, very intentional about it. It all begins with us adopting the attitudes, that is, our thoughts, feelings, actions and behaviours that are oriented to take us from where we are now, into the next highest level of our potential.
This means that we need to explore our strengths, our passion and our purpose and develop the skills we need to be our very best. We need to become more conscious and grow in awareness. We need to grow in character and develop our ability to have better relationships and to lead ourselves and others.  We need to grow in the skills and knowledge required to advance our careers and meet our financial goals. We must grow spiritually to enrich our lives and the lives of others.
Growth does not just happen, but once it begins to happen, it has no finish line. There is no limit to our potential. However growth must be intentional. If we do not have a plan for growth that we are constantly in the process of implementing, then, we are not fulfilling our true potential. As your coach, I help you to gain clarity on your vision and purpose, develop a growth plan to focus on your goals and priorities and take the decisions and actions you need to achieve the results you want for your life. I can help you be the person you dream of becoming and I am just a message away.
Growthfully
